프로젝트 8x는 오종원이 기획한 프로젝트 집단입니다. 한국전쟁 직후 베이비붐 세대의 자녀들인 (에코세대라고 불리기도 하는) 198X년대 생들로 구성된 이 프로젝트 팀은, 자신들이 속한 세대와 환경의 현실에 대해 다소 보편적인 측면에서 관찰하고 고민해보는 것으로 프로젝트를 시작하였습니다. 전반적으로 논의가 가능한 실제 현상들과 이를 이야기 나눠보는 커뮤니케이션을 형성하는 것이 중점이며, 2018년 '나의 피지배적인 역사'라는 전시를 시작으로 장기적인 프로젝트로 운영하고자 하였습니다.

project 8x is a project collective organized by O Jongwon. The team is made up of people born in the 198X years — the children of the baby boomers born right after the Korean War, sometimes called the echo generation. We began by observing and thinking through, in fairly general terms, the realities of our own generation and surroundings. The focus was on real phenomena that anyone could discuss and on building conversations around them. Starting with the 2018 exhibition My Subjugated History, we meant to run it as a long-term project.
